====== Local MARC Mappings ======

VuFind® includes default MARC import mappings (for use with [[indexing:solrmarc|SolrMarc]]) in the [[https://github.com/vufind-org/vufind/blob/dev/import/marc.properties|import/marc.properties]] file.

It is often necessary to customize your MARC mapping rules.  In order to make future upgrades easier, it is recommended that you separate your local customizations from the VuFind® defaults by keeping them in a separate file.

Local MARC mappings can be kept in [[https://github.com/vufind-org/vufind/blob/dev/import/marc_local.properties|import/marc_local.properties]], which may be stored under your [[configuration:local_settings_directory|local settings directory]].
