Attending: Demian Katz, Daniel Lovins, Luke O'Sullivan, Preetha Rao
A few talks at the conference referenced VuFind, and there was a breakout session attended by new and veteran VuFind users. There was also a useful Solr-related pre-conference, and several talks that provided interesting ideas that could be applied to VuFind (for example, the Mendeley API). Streaming video of the whole conference (excluding the pre-conferences) can be viewed here.
Speed problems with Selenium integration tests have been resolved by downgrading the PEAR Selenium library from v0.4.4 to v0.4.3. The problem seems to be related to the stream_set_blocking() call – Preetha is continuing her investigation of the problem in parallel with writing new tests to take advantage of the fix.
Still cleaning up minor issues from VUFIND-353. Demian will devote more time to this now that other 1.1-related tickets are finished.
Graham has sent an inquiry to the Gnome artists mailing list but has not received any responses yet. He will try some other avenues if this does not pan out in the near future.
A couple of new contributions from Sam Moffatt have been committed:
There was some discussion on the mailing list about building a generic statistics interface so that the existing Solr-based statistics could be seamlessly exchanged for MySQL or other mechanisms. This is largely motivated by the fact that write-heavy Solr indexes can have performance problems. If anyone is interested in working on this, feel free to open a JIRA ticket and claim it.
Further discussion deferred until next week due to low turnout.
The new National Library of Israel VuFind implementation was discussed along with related translation issues.
Daniel mentioned progress on his improvements to the OCLC Terminologies recommendation module, though intermittent API problems have made this more difficult.
The next call will be Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 10am Eastern Standard Time (GMT - 5:00).
