1. Development Updates

JIRA Tickets

VUFIND-1275 - This ticket reports problems with the WorldCatIdentities recommendation module (likely related to theme revisions); it has not yet been fixed but should be addressed in the next minor release.
VUFIND-1276 - This ticket addresses the lack of a generator for view helpers; please upvote it if you need this feature.

Pull Requests

#1106, #1107, #1109 - merged - work on fixing a problem with cover loader HTTP proxy support.
#1108 - merged - Addition of foreign key support to the database upgrade tool.
#1110 - in progress - Support for a new POST-based export mechanism (to help with RefWorks issues).
#1111 - in progress - More appropriate use of Collections URLs.
#1112 - in progress - New Mailer functionality.
#1113, #1114 - merged - Sierra ILS driver improvements.

2. Development Planning

5.0 Roadmap Progress

ServiceManager v3 Upgrade

The upgrade to ServiceManager v3 has been merged to master. In the process, all service names were normalized to fully-qualified class names, and many factories were rewritten to the latest ZF conventions. This made it possible to make the code generator tools easier to use, since you can now extend services by providing a simple class name instead of having to figure out a configuration path. Demian may continue to revise existing static factories as time permits.

Solr 7

Demian began investigating necessary browse handler changes for Solr 7 compatibility; so far, it looks like there are minimal adjustments needed. He will try to make further progress on this when he returns from vacation next week.

Next Steps

Demian will focus on raising version requirements to PHP 7 soon. Feel free to suggest other priority items from the roadmap.

Browse Handler Optimizations

No news.

Geographic Improvements

Demian merged Leila's indexer error logging improvements. Work is still in progress on improving geo-configuration and migrating to Leaflet. Leila will look at Demian's comments on PR #1086 later this week; she is also working on configuration in Leaflet to improve handling of very large polygonal regions.
