VuFind Developers Call Minutes: January 15, 2019

Attending: Markus Beh, Matthias Edel, Leila Gonzales, Chris Hallberg, Demian Katz, Mohan Pradhan

• VUFIND-1317 - This ticket describes a scenario where email controls appear even though they are not allowed to be used; it suggests that email functionality should probably be tied to the standard permission system in future.
• VUFIND-1318 - This ticket tracks implementation of polygon support for geographic searching.
• VUFIND-1319 - This ticket tracks the need for better Javascript/CSS dependency management; the experiment with bower-installer in PR #1164 has been concluded due to the deprecation of Bower, but no workable alternative seems to exist at present.

• #1295, #1299, #1301, #1303, #1304 - merged - Translation fixes/improvements.
• #1296, #1297 - in progress - Better support for supporting symlinks in combination with the asset pipeline.
• #1298 - in progress - Work on eliminating static factories (for 6.0).
• #1300 - merged - Upgrade to Bootstrap 3.4.0.
• #1302 - merged - Minor dependency updates (in preparation for 5.1).

Chris has made some more progress on the FOLIO driver. Demian has been talking to the FOLIO community about ID management issues (UUIDs vs. legacy IDs, etc.). We're still discussing whether to include this as an “experimental” feature in 5.1 or wait until FOLIO itself matures further before making a release.

The work needed in time for release 5.1 has been completed. Further adjustments (impacting the return format of the handler) will be made with release 6.0.

Mohan is working on this; he has some questions, which will be discussed further on the JIRA ticket (VUFIND-1309.

Demian has been focusing on putting finishing touches on release 5.1 – PR #966 (AJAX account notifications) should be finished up this week; PR #1246 (deferred side facets) still needs some work and may or may not be finished in time; translation updates are well underway.

Mohan is working on a new 64-bit live DVD with the latest VuFind version. Should be released in the next week to ten days.
