Future of JIRA
No news; still waiting for feedback from the OLF.
Javascript Dependencies
Pull request #1799 was merged and included in the 8.0 release.
Possible Laminas Deprecations
No news; Demian is catching up with non-VuFind responsibilities following the 8.0 release, but this will be a high priority as soon as work on 9.0 begins.
Static Analysis Tools
No news.
Release 8.0
VuFind 8.0 was released on time on September 20, 2021. An 8.0.1 release was issued the following week to address a potential “out of memory” bug in Laminas Cache. Some further (minor) bug fixes have been made since, so an 8.0.2 release will also be forthcoming when enough code has accumulated to justify it.
2. VuFind® Summit
The call for paper has closed for the 2021 Summit, with enough submissions to fill the schedule. The timing of talks is being finalized, and the schedule will be announced as soon as all speakers have acknowledged their time slots. Registration is also open in case anyone wants to sign up early.
3. Video Recording: The MultiBackend ILS Driver
Ere Maijala presented on the MultiBackend ILS Driver. A recording will be made available when editing is complete.
4. Other Topics?
Bob had some questions about VuFind's authority capabilities. Demian and Ere demonstrated current and future functionality – AlphaBrowse cross-references, the Authority recommendation module and some National Library of Finland-specific features that should be contributed upstream in the future. Bob noted that Cornell's Blacklight instance has some useful authority features which may be inspirational for future development.
