VuFind Developers Call Minutes: November 21, 2017
Attending: Leila Gonzales, Chris Hallberg, Demian Katz, Claas Kazzer, Jochen Lienhard, Ere Maijala, Tod Olson
Agenda
1. Development Updates
JIRA Tickets
- VUFIND-1256 - Bug report related to visual view failing to use custom-configured fields properly. Demian has implemented a fix in PR #1077.
- VUFIND-1257 - VuFind's default configs don't play well with php-fpm, which is now the default PHP integration in Fedora Linux 27. The easiest solution would be to stop using short tags, which we have previously discussed doing.
- VUFIND-1258 - Koha ILS-DI driver bug report. A fix has been committed.
Pull Requests
- #1074 - merged - Voyager driver bug fix
- #1075 - in progress - New channel for recently returned items
- #1076 - merged - Improvement to geographic indexing logic
- #1077 - in progress - Solution to VUFIND-1256; awaiting testing/review.
- #1078 - in progress - Make VuFind use Solr's highlighter more effectively; feedback encouraged.
- #1079 - merged - Translation typo fix.
4.1.1 Release
The release went out on schedule; no problems reported yet. Upgrade is recommended if you're using 4.1 already – changes are minor and address some bugs that users might notice.
A few more issues have been reported since the release (i.e. VUFIND-1258 and #1079), so a 4.1.2 release will likely be justified sometime between now and the major 5.0 release.
2. Development Planning
5.0 Roadmap Progress
Record Driver Hierarchy Refactoring
This has been merged to master.
ServiceManager v3 Upgrade
PR #1067 is now in a fully functional state (though more testing would be justified). However, it cannot be merged until three Zend Framework bugs are fixed – Demian has opened pull requests for all of them and is now waiting for merging and new releases.
What next?
Suggestions for next priorities from the roadmap are encouraged.
