VuFind Developers Call Minutes: July 2, 2019

Attending: Matthias Edel, Chris Hallberg, Demian Katz

Agenda

1. Development Updates

JIRA Tickets

  • No activity this cycle.

Pull Requests

  • #1382, #1386 - merged - Czech translation improvements.
  • #1383 - merged - Simplification of ReCaptcha code.
  • #1384 - merged - Upgrades to dependencies in preparation for 6.0 release.
  • #1385 - in progress - New recommendation module to link to external searches.
  • #1387 - in progress - Work to raise the PHP requirement to 7.1.

2. Development Planning

Zend Framework / Laminas Transition

No major news yet – still waiting for the Laminas code to drop. The getlaminas.org site still has not changed significantly since it was unveiled.

Browse Handler Optimizations

No news.

Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI)

No news; progress is slow. Demian may have more time to push this forward after the 6.0 release.

PHP Requirements

As noted above, Demian has begun a pull request to raise the base requirement to PHP 7.1, which has allowed some dependencies to be upgraded, addressing some known bugs. This will be merged soon (once testing of upgraded dependencies is complete). The impact seems to be fairly low.

6.0 Release Progress

Demian has merged quite a few open pull requests, and work is coming to a close on the new release. The code will be frozen very soon.

3. Developers Summit

No news.

4. Other Topics?

Chris is going to send an email to the mailing list about increasing dev call participation through demos, especially after 6.0 is released and theme work ramps up.

Next Call

The next call will be Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 9am Eastern Daylight Time (13:00 GMT).
