Zend Framework 1 vs. Zend Framework 2
When VuFind 2.0 went into development, the Zend Framework community was in the process of developing their own 2.0 version. This led to an unfortunate situation: the first iteration of VuFind 2.0 development had to use Zend Framework 1, even though a new and different version of the software was on its way. This is why the 2.0alpha release uses ZF1 but subsequent versions are built for ZF2.
Zend Framework 2 Documentation
Until ZF2 is officially released, documentation can be a bit hard to find. Here are some helpful resources:
- Zend Framework Webinars - Many of these online videos deal with ZF2 issues.
- Zend Skeleton Application - An example application to help with building ZF2-based software.
- Getting Started with Zend Framework 2 - A tutorial which extends the skeleton application.
- Programmer's Reference Guide - The official (but, as of this writing, not yet complete) ZF2 documentation.
- VuFind/ZF2 Blog Posts - Demian is writing a series of blog posts about moving VuFind to ZF2; you can see them at this link.
